The new Ford Explorer comes standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This helps the Explorer with acceleration and overall performance. Opt for a Toyota 4Runner, and you will only find a five-speed automatic available.



The Explorer has 24.7 cubic feet more passenger volume when compared to the Toyota 4Runner.

If you need to tow and haul equipment around town, you will be able to tow more with the Ford Explorer. Maximum trailer towing with the 4Runner is only 5000 pounds, but the Explorer offers 5600 pounds of towing capacity.
